Ghazal night.

Finally, something awesome.

BANG!!  what an event last weekend, almost everyone there loved it and it was met with a hugely positive response from everyone from students bringing their families and friends to faculty too.  It was all kinds of awesome, also it gives you something of a special feel when ALMOST every person *except a few* has put in some effort to look good and they actually succeed at doing so, and don’t end up making a joke of themselves *ouch this sounds rude*.

The venue was good, the performers outdid themselves the food *the biryani and feerni* was better than expected and almost everything else about that event was an A.

The night which started with a beautiful hamd ‘wohi khuda hy’ and ended with a good ol’ dama dam mast qalandar dhamaal, had so much happen,in between, including that random weird guy who decided to go Michael Jackson+the infamous badnam munni all over the arena and quite literally made people wonder what exactly the kind of stuff exactly has he been smoking and more importantly WHAT THE HELL IS THIS CREATURE AND WHERE DID IT COME FROM. I would’ve taken notes of every song and every ghazal sang by the performers but I was busy enjoying everything around me so I couldn’t. If anyone remembers the songs and ghazals please mention in the comments for those who missed it.

This event was organised in the city and the venue was at a very easy-to-get-to location thus the fact that many people that you wouldn’t usually find at events were there too, although it kept reminding me of the absolutely magnificent amphitheater we have at our campus that is used for God-knows-what *you do know what I mean* purposes and I in my two years here, have yet to witness it in its glory but considering the fact that our ‘awam’ tends to be lazy when events are held at the campus you really have no one to blame but the ‘awam’ itself.  Here is to hoping that we get a musical event such as this one at OUR campus.. SOON.

The best thing about this event was the overwhelming response by the faculty, the president and Dean sahab too.  So much that the latter was even seen encouraging and almost literally dragging students for dhamaal and I think that’s the kind of spirit we need from them for every event.

Coming soon: The games.

The games are about to begin.  *suspenseful music in the background*

You have probably been noticing some weird things lately in TIP and we all know what it is.

No, I’m absolutely not talking about the OH-SO-AMAZING batch of juniors we’ve had this time, frankly I think it’s VERY rude that you actually thought I was talking about them, I’m not talking about the infamous hostel ghost stories,  neither am I talking about some of the ‘GROWN UPS’ we have at our Institute who are getting weirder looking by day, anyways back to the point, yes! The weird thing.

I’m talking about the fact that everyone is being so nice to each other these days, people who don’t normally talk to each other will be found sitting together, and doing..  things together. people who might have even been rude to you at some point are now probably not being so rude. So what is it, you must have have wondered and most probably already know the answer, but just for the sake of drama let’s do it MY way.

So what is up with everyone?  Has humanity finally decided to have some humanity?  Has the government made new laws against being rude?  Is everyone smoking some really good stuff and getting high alot these days, thus the niceness? Or Is it a world created by your imagination and nothing is real?

The answer is, NONE OF THE ABOVE, its just that the TISF ELECTIONS 2K16, the Game of thrones, the TIPs version of demolition derby, where many go in, but only the strongest come out alive, is about to start.

The most exciting time of the year when everyone gets to feel important, is here and Boy oh boy is it going to be sweet. Fresh Rumours are coming in every day and these elections might just shaping up to be one of the best, most competitive ones we’ve had in recent memory, panels are going to be complicated this time, on one hand there is a strong chance that we might get to see more than two candidates for certain posts and some may even be thinking about rolling the dice once AGAIN, and on the other there are some dark horses in the race, some candidates that upon hearing your immediate response will be “that guy?  Seriously who is gonna vote for him??” , and some horses who are telling everyone they’re not interested in the race but anyone with a functioning brain can see, they WILL be a part of it.

This will be all for now, but this is just one of the many posts to come regarding the elections , so yeah buckle up! because this is going to be a VERY fun ride.

Internet? nah i live in the hostel, never heard of it.

An article about hostelites, that hostelites will  most probably not get to read.

I recently had a chance to stay at the hostel for a night and came across some major complains from the hostelites so I thought, what the hell ! let’s write about it.

Among a dozen of daily life problems, The Internet is probably the biggest one they have right now. Our campus has WiFi ‘Internet’ everywhere *or so they say*, but the situation is way more difficult for hostilities than you may think.

Apparently the Internet goes down quite often for some reason, it happens after almost every day or two, And surprise surprise! they don’t have anyone taking care of that so the ‘inmates’ are left to run the WiFi of the ‘asylum’, Mohammad Awais of Amm2 knows a little about the Internet stuff,therefore whenever it goes down everyone at the hostel turn to him for help, he walks all the way from hostel to the main gate of TIP to get a guard who’d then open the door of academic block for him, he then goes upstairs to fix the Internet and then finally goes back to hostel, the whole process takes an hour or two atleast, it’s not even his job but he has to do it because obviously, there isn’t another way. Anyways the other day he went to the main gate and the guards said they can’t open the campus area for him since they get scolded by the admin manager for opening it without permission, extremely upset over this situation he stated, and I quote;

‘Mera kaam bi nai hy tab bi karta hoon, yahan pagal nai baithe hain ham, khud to banda hire nai kia hua koi, ham Apni madad aap karain to usmay bi maslay, ye sab khud yahan ruk ke dekhain do Din in ko Pata chalay ga ham kaise reh rahe hain ‘

I stayed there for a day and either the Internet didn’t work at all and even if it did work I assure you my grandmother could probably run faster than our Internet and I am not even being funny here. Now on to the most obvious replies you will get from some of the people responsible for this, the evergreen justification of ‘excessive downloading’ and too much devices being used *because apparently the 20th century still hasn’t ended here *, which always worked but it won’t anymore since the daily data for all devices is monitored and if it exceeds the limit the device gets blocked. Now it may sound like I’m talking about a military Academy Here but I really am not. It’s TIPs awesome hostel ladies and gentlemen.

SpringFest16

A look at the most recent, and the first day time event by TISF.

Have you ever been to that one movie, with all your friends after a very long time and you know that the movie isn’t anything special but you’re still really excited about it because at least you get to have fun?  That’s basically what the case was with the most recent event by TISF that we got in the form of “SpringFest16″.

After a series of semi successful to successful night events such as BBQ ,Halloween and sports nights ,this event was the first day time event and12891159_1294897107193479_8077334210674785750_o

for that reason everyone was expecting a lot from it, perhaps a bit too much considering the limited budget *as we are told* our organizers get to work with. The guys and girls were all putting in an extra effort in getting ready because of ‘the event’ which was gonna end with ‘rang’ anyway so if you ask me, that wasn’t such a great idea because when those layers of ‘good looks’ get removed by the rang water, an epic display of weird looking colored scary monsters is what we get to witness and that is exactly what happened and IT.WAS. SWEET. Kind of tragic in a way, maybe a tad bit wrong morality wise..But yeah sweet.

Now coming back to the event itself, there were a lot of things to do there, The jumping castle (was fun), the other jumping castle kind of thing (no idea what it’s supposed to be), the huge ball thingy (my personal favorite) *I don’t know what it’s called so ill just call it the huge ball thingy* and sumo wrestling too.

The jumping castle, as it is generally called but if you ask me, the word castle would be a little bit exaggerating? I guess. But eh, it was fun .. Think about any famous wrestling move you might be familiar with from watching WWE, whether it’s the Spear, the Rock bottom, the Powerbomb or an F5, all of them were used by guys on each other and it was crazy fun. Then there was the huge ball thingy, sure you had to wait a little for your turn but once inside it turned the world upside down ..quite literally.

The general feedback to it was mixed. Some thought it wasn’t worth the hype ,Most were just disappointed ,Some decided not to be a part of it and sat in the café saying ‘Garmi hy’ *the worst kind of people*, while some actually enjoyed the hell out of it.

A lot of people complained about the lack of stalls but you can’t put all the blame on TISF, the lack of stalls was the fault of students, they’re the ones responsible for them it just goes to show that we HAVE gotten lazy and all most of us do is complain. Then there were the problems with the way it was all organized , the event started a bit late than it was promised ,there weren’t enough rides and also the tents/shamianas/tamboos *call them what you want* were not properly installed, some of them fell down and the others were quite LITERALLY dancing to the beats of music , it looked like all of them might fall on our heads any second and admit it or not, a lot of you wished that it DOES fall I mean, just imagine the chaos. It would’ve been the best thing to come out of the night.

Anyways that’s basically all there was to it, all the jokes and sarcasm aside, the best thing about it was the fact that there was something HAPPENING and we got to see that excitement on the faces of everyone that is so rare here at TIP, things have become so stale here that it is frustrating, we rarely ever have something to look forward to so here it is to hoping, that we get better days like this one more often.12916807_1294883050528218_1902896509097662132_o 12885821_1294885343861322_3084911144024888881_o
