TISF Reforms-Final Decision?

A lot has been already discussed on Quack! about the proposed TISF ammendments. To give you a much clearer view, we would now like to share the formal “documented proposal” in a point wise format which was presented on TISF Google group by Sarim Mehmood and soon will be discussed in front of the student body.

Kindly check out the following text and do come up with your comments on this as we have very little time left for the final decision….

Proposal for new TISF Reforms 2009

1.By dissolving all the present seats of the TISF, Independent Students Societies will be made including the few societies which are currently working example, Dramatics, Religious, Publications, literary societies and by adding the new ones.
2.These societies will have Non-Elected Presidents selected by the concerned students of the respective societies.
3.Instead of the President, GS, FS etc, a General Student Council will be elected which will bridge the gap between the students and the faculty/administration.
4.At least 7 council members will be elected.
5.Every Society will have its own proposed budget and calendar.
6.The societies and the council both will report to the TISF coordinator and their own respective Society Coordinators.

TISF Constitution Amendment

The General Student Council

-The General student council will be an elected student body comprising of seven (7) council members.

-The Role of council will solely be to represent the student body and to effectively bridge the gap between the students, faculty and the administration.

-The Council will focus on solving all academic and non-academic issues and will ensure that the voices of the students are heard effectively.

-This council will not have the authority to govern any of the student societies. The councils will interfere in the society work if and only if there are any complains by the students.

-Other then internal Council meetings, this Council will organize a minimum of three (3) council meetings per semester with the entire student body.

-This elected council will also be responsible for maintaining the discipline throughout the campus specially in the TISF Slots and at various Events

-Minimum two (2) seats of the council will be reserved for the female students.

-This council will work as a team without one member dominating any other.

-The council after getting elected will choose any one of among themselves for helping and representing the TISF Financial issues.

-An elected council member can still remain a member of any Textile Institute Student Society.

Elections, Seat quotas and Eligibility Criteria for the General Student Council

-The elections will be held under the same eligibility criteria defined by the TISF constitution.

-The number of seats allocated with respect to every batch( Year ) is as follows

First year: 1
Second year: 1
Third year: 2
Fourth year: 2
Textile Design Department: 1

-Three seats for female students will be reserved 1 from the 3rd year, one from the 4rth year and one random seat from the Textile Design Department.

-The TISF Coordinator will administer all the council issues with respect to the council elections.

-The TISF coordinator can expel any student from the council if found guilty in any disciplinary issue.

-The date and schedule of the elections will be decided by the TISF coordinator.

The Working Mechanism of the Council

-The Role of council will be solely to represent the student body and to effectively bridge the gap between the students, faculty and the administration.

-The council will address to all the Academic / Non-Academic issues of the student body and will forward the proposed solutions to the TISF Coordinator.

-The council will organize 3 interactive External meetings per semester with the student body.

-At least 5 internal council meetings per semester with the minutes of the meetings reported to the TISF Coordinator.

-The council will be responsible for maintaining the discipline in the students as well as maintaining a healthy environment in the campus.

-The Council will not be responsible for organizing Events (the event Management Society will solely deal with the event management). However, the Council will play its role for hall management during the TISF slots.

-An elected council member can still remain a member of any Textile Institute Student Society.

-The Council will, in its every tenure, select one amongst themselves with the approval of the TISF Coordinator, for representing and managing the financial Issues of TISF.

  1. Perhaps you could carry out a fun survey and post the results here, put in peoples opinions, criticisms and so on..not many people have been speaking out their heart lately 😉

  2. Finally; majority of TIP student body approved the proposed TISF reforms today (16th sep) in the TISF slot.
