Halloween Carnival 2009
By Shakaib Ifkikhar, AMM1
Textile Institute of Pakistan has celebrated it’s carnival on Dec 04 2009. The event was
beautifully arranged by Textile Institute Students Forum. Many students and Texperts brightened the night with
their colorful yet scary costumes. The theme was Halloween with the Desi touch. The event started with the coverage of AAG TV who not only captured the scary and desi night in their cameras but also made the crowd to dance the night away. The event included “Dance competition” and “Best costume award” and cash prizes were awarded to deserving participants by the host of AAG TV. The location of carnival was decorated with scary theme in mind; there were graves with RIP signs on them which were not only frightening but became favourite photo shoot spot for the students. The sCaRiEsT night coming up…
By Shoaib Wahab, TMM3

There’s a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
keeps on smiling more and more.
There’s a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
till they dressed for Halloween.
History of Halloween…. Like any other festival’s history is inspired through traditions that have transpired through ages from one generation to another. We follow them mostly as did our dads and grandpas. And as this process goes on, much of their originality get distorted with newer additions and alterations. It happens so gradually, spanning over so many ages, that we hardly come to know about these distortions. At one point of time it leaves us puzzled, with its multicolored faces. Yet, doubts still lurk deep into us, especially when the reality differs from what has taken a deep seated root into our beliefs. Read the rest of this entry »

FUTSAL TOURNAMENT 09

Games are healthy activity for young people, and they teach us how to be good at team work, Patience, and keep us healthy. Coming to the point Sportics organized Futsal tournament 09 this year it was a nice effort by Waqas (AMM2), Shariq (TS4), Qassim (TS1) and most importantly the TISF sports coordinator, Mr. Yousaf. The tournament started on Nov 2nd 8 teams participated.
I didn’t know we had people too concerned about sports and we still don’t have inter-university sport tournaments and not only this, I didn’t even find TIP participating at inter-university tournaments by other universities, except for the one last year at Bahria University, and I even heard that to take part in that tournament team put there money on stake rather than only putting their efforts.
Well getting back to the point and cutting it short, the semifinals were played between Apparel United and Dyno Muchy Party, Apparel united won by 4-1 and qualified for the finals one the other match was between Red Devilz and Pata Nahi ( Jeetain ge ya nahi), Pata Nahi lost by 0-5 and Red devilz qualified for final.

Frustrations all around!
By Waqas Bin Azhar, TMM4
I would like to start with the time, time just before TIP, when I was searching for some of good business schools in news paper, publications etc, then I found TIP ad in the Jung newspaper and thought to apply for it and fortunately cleared the test and interview. Since I had no information about TIP therefore I asked to some of people in textiles, they told to go for it, fortunately I did not find any chance to ask some of out of textile business people, any way I got admission in TIP and was very happy as I found very good environment in fact I was very much happy to see the top class and really quality faculty. But as the time passes, instead of increase in the happiness, the level of frustrations increases. You must be thinking that if I’ve been suffering from this stage then why I wrote this article so late??
The reason is, this frustration is now being overflowed and compelled me to put up my thoughts on Quack… I will be discussing those issues which need attention. These issues are related to the concern of existing student body. Read the rest of this entry »

TISF Reforms-Final Decision?
A lot has been already discussed on Quack! about the proposed TISF ammendments. To give you a much clearer view, we would now like to share the formal “documented proposal” in a point wise format which was presented on TISF Google group by Sarim Mehmood and soon will be discussed in front of the student body.
Kindly check out the following text and do come up with your comments on this as we have very little time left for the final decision….
Proposal for new TISF Reforms 2009
1.By dissolving all the present seats of the TISF, Independent Students Societies will be made including the few societies which are currently working example, Dramatics, Religious, Publications, literary societies and by adding the new ones.
2.These societies will have Non-Elected Presidents selected by the concerned students of the respective societies.
3.Instead of the President, GS, FS etc, a General Student Council will be elected which will bridge the gap between the students and the faculty/administration.
4.At least 7 council members will be elected. Read the rest of this entry »
