Elections 09-10… Beginning of a New Era!
Finally; it’s over! With not much of people competing this year the elections seemed to be boring but still, it brought T.I.P back to life. TISF Elections 09, with lots of money wasted and all its dirty politics have finally com to an end. The new members with same old promises got elected and with that same old hope people voted them for a change. With the 94% of votes casted this year, six new TISF board members got elected out of which three were unopposed and just needed 51% votes to get elected. Contrary to last year; this year we also had a Publication Secretary.

The new TISF board members are:
Adnan Malik – President
Sikandar Hussain Gillani – General Secretary
Khurram Hussain – Financial Secretary
Muhammad Mohsin Butt – Publication Secretary
Shahbaz Mohammad – Activity Secretary
Talha Farooqui – Campus Development Secretary
A very special thanks to Dr. Zubair as it was only due to some of his strict actions that the ratio of “khappa’s” comparing from last year was very little and the best part in these elections was that there was no division of class fellows. In the end, I would just like to say, for those who didn’t win it’s not the end. The manifesto that we gave was the same, just the words used were different, so let us join our hands and work together for the best thing possible.

TISF Reforms-Final Decision?
A lot has been already discussed on Quack! about the proposed TISF ammendments. To give you a much clearer view, we would now like to share the formal “documented proposal” in a point wise format which was presented on TISF Google group by Sarim Mehmood and soon will be discussed in front of the student body.
Kindly check out the following text and do come up with your comments on this as we have very little time left for the final decision….
Proposal for new TISF Reforms 2009
1.By dissolving all the present seats of the TISF, Independent Students Societies will be made including the few societies which are currently working example, Dramatics, Religious, Publications, literary societies and by adding the new ones.
2.These societies will have Non-Elected Presidents selected by the concerned students of the respective societies.
3.Instead of the President, GS, FS etc, a General Student Council will be elected which will bridge the gap between the students and the faculty/administration.
4.At least 7 council members will be elected. Read the rest of this entry »

Who wants my vote?
Anybody? no one? Makes sense. There’s no point – not this semester at least

In a historic move today, Dr.ZB, president of TIP announced in front of a jam packed lecture theatre the news of a fresh start for the TISF. A change we all had been asking, begging, fighting and working very hard for. And finally it’s happened, proving that having the will to do something holds prime importance. Change will make way itself.
Using his executive powers, the president announced that upcoming elections for the TISF would not take place this semester. Instead, they would be held early Fall semester. The reasons for doing so have been discussed previously, many a time. Here’s a summary: Read the rest of this entry »

Vanquishing of the LAKIR …….
(The lakir…)
Since the inception of TISF in 1997, the students have yet not been able to see its constructive role as a student forum. Every elected TISF panel follows nearly the same agenda as the previous one and organizes the same old Events, the list of which needs not to be mentioned. Go and ask a graduate of 2002 and he will give u the details!!
Although the addition of seats like Campus Development and the Activity secretary last year gave some hope to the hopeless, but both of them, although equally talented and commendable, did nothing but helped the President and the General Secretary organize the S.O.E (Same Old Events). Coming towards the worst part, our students here have not seemed to mind this at all. I was talking to a senior a few days back and he said: common sarim stop being a Qaide-e-Azam and let us enjoy ourselves!!
I know I am not the first person who has ever raised this issue, but have we ever considered any alternatives? The concerned people, which are gone long ago used to say: …k…don’t vote becoz TISF sucks!! But is this the solution?
(The development…)
Astoundingly, for the first time in my three years here, I was discussing a proposal or rather some new reforms for the TISF the day before yesterday and the nine people sitting with me pledged that they too wanted a change and will help me spread the word.
Within 2 hrs the next morning, thanks to the super-9, more then 60 students including half of the candidates of the new TISF panel pledged that they were ready for the new TISF reforms and promised that they won’t take part in the elections this semester.

Lakir kay fakirrr……..
Have you ever fallen in love? Three years ago I did!
For those of you, who after reading the first line, have already started to imagine me singing love songs for a girl? GROW UP! I am talking about TIP, a place which majority of us never loved.
I know it sounds a little cheesy, But I swear the first day I came to this place I fell in love with it. My infatuation continues, but when I see students following the same old BAID CHAAL and proudly following the mistakes done by their seniors, I regret coming here. I regret coming here when my friends tell me about the Societies and Events they have in their universities. I hope those of you who are not a part of the fieuking dirty politics may understand what I am trying to say. Read the rest of this entry »

Justice is mightier than “Dae-mock-racy”
Justice makes more sense than all constitutions and democracies. Otherwise, most people here would get all those who are different from them beheaded through democratic vote!
As the day of TISF elections for 2009-’10 looms closer, questions still remain unanswered, prime candidates unopposed, decisions unmade and wrong policies unchanged. Neither TIP’s nor TISF’s management apparently feel it needful to answer an important question raised earlier.
Why are the final year students allowed to vote and influence an election whose results will have nothing to do with them? They sell their votes, play with the entire process, and get away with it unaffected. Or they end up voting for the wrong or dummy candidates only for the fun of it!
The argument is simple:
The TISF is funded partly by students. The fourth years have no contribution in the budget of TISF that comes into action after they have left the institute.
Will our management continue to remain silent only because majority of the students are indifferent and apathetic towards raising this issue to rid TIP of something so wrong and unjust? Let’s give the freshmen their chance to vote, instead of ragging them at the start of their academic journey.
Justice makes more sense than all constitutions and democracies.

Haraam Khaiyeh, Sabko Khilaiyeh, Election Jeet Jaiyeh!
Maasoom student politics hai yeh. Aaghaaz taaleemi idaaro say, ikhtetaam hukoomat ki gaddi par. Ya wahan bhi nahi?
This Sunday I received my first invitation to a pre election feast – or Khaapa as many like to call it – thrown by one of the election candidates for TISF 2009-’10.
Why did I refuse? Simple. Not everybody likes a payment for casting their vote. By judging the amount of clapping sentimental, pro religion statements receive during lectures and events, one tends to misjudge the quality of morals and ethics practiced among the masses. Religious morals seem to be available at large either for namesake, or for a price, whatever applies these days.
And for the sake of justice, why should the 4th year – that’s about to graduate in 2 months – be even allowed to vote for selection of a student body that will have nothing to do with them? All they do is sell their votes and ruin the results of elections. These food fests are common, and last for months. Read the rest of this entry »
