BIC 2010…….TIES rOcK!!!
Coming back after attending the YLES 2010 in LUMS, our TIES team was very much energized to do something similar in our very own TIP!
So we decided to hold a Business Idea Competition.
Rules were pretty simple, we had our punchline as Think Global & Act Local.
Initially we got 17 teams that participated in the first round, and that was to submit a two pages executive summary of their business idea.
We already asked everybody to be as creative and innovative as possible but restricting oneself to business viability!!!
From these 17 teams we selected the top 8 teams, the judging panel for the first round consisted of students including the TIES members (Sarim, Amna, Shumaila, Dawood, Rida and Nussebah).
After the screening out of the 8 teams, we had our Final round on 24th Feb’ 2010 Wednesday TISF Slot. Each team gave a presentation of 5 minutes on their proposals.

LahoRRRe, LaHHHore hai!
When I reached the daewoo station early morning on the 16th of January 2010, the last words my mom said to me were:
Jinhay Lahhore nai waikhiya……..
Ooa jamiya eei nai…….
So I guess I have recently been born!
Anyways…….the trip to Lahore was an exceptional one, since we were all hyped up for the YLES (Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs Summit) 2010 to take place in LUMS
and apart from that the whole ride was amazing….playing dumb charades and watching movies and how can i forget stopping at the most memorable and unforgettable stops on the way (especially da conditions of the toilets)
The first thing we saw when we entered Lahore were large green patches of land surrounded by a dreamy unlimited supply of fog

Awe-Inspiring night at TIP!
By Komal
It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can’t be seen
On any other night.
Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.
In masks and gowns
we haunt the street
And knock on doors
for trick or treat. Read the rest of this entry »

Textile Institute of Pakistan has celebrated it’s carnival on Dec 04 2009. The event was
beautifully arranged by Textile Institute Students Forum. Many students and Texperts brightened the night with
their colorful yet scary costumes. The theme was Halloween with the Desi touch. The event started with the coverage of AAG TV who not only captured the scary and desi night in their cameras but also made the crowd to dance the night away. The event included “Dance competition” and “Best costume award” and cash prizes were awarded to deserving participants by the host of AAG TV. The sCaRiEsT night coming up…
By Shoaib Wahab, TMM3

There’s a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
keeps on smiling more and more.
There’s a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
till they dressed for Halloween.
History of Halloween…. Like any other festival’s history is inspired through traditions that have transpired through ages from one generation to another. We follow them mostly as did our dads and grandpas. And as this process goes on, much of their originality get distorted with newer additions and alterations. It happens so gradually, spanning over so many ages, that we hardly come to know about these distortions. At one point of time it leaves us puzzled, with its multicolored faces. Yet, doubts still lurk deep into us, especially when the reality differs from what has taken a deep seated root into our beliefs. Read the rest of this entry »
