Frustrations all around!

By Waqas Bin Azhar, TMM4

I would like to start with the time, time just before TIP, when I was searching for some of good business schools in news paper, publications etc, then I found TIP ad in the Jung newspaper and thought to apply for it and fortunately cleared the test and interview. Since I had no information about TIP therefore I asked to some of people in textiles, they told to go for it, fortunately I did not find any chance to ask some of out of textile business people, any way I got admission in TIP and was very happy as I found very good environment in fact I was very much happy to see the top class and really quality faculty. But as the time passes, instead of increase in the happiness, the level of frustrations increases. You must be thinking that if I’ve been suffering from this stage then why I wrote this article so late??

The reason is, this frustration is now being overflowed and compelled me to put up my thoughts on Quack… I will be discussing those issues which need attention. These issues are related to the concern of existing student body. Read the rest of this entry »

MEN WANTED!

One day, Birbal, King Akbar’s adviser and a famous philosopher of his time, was found wandering around in the market place of India with a lighted lantern in broad day light. He seemed to be looking for something, he had lost. People asked him what he was looking for, he said, “I am looking for an HONEST MAN, but I can’t find one.”untitled

Most of the people went away laughing, as it was joke. But some must have given it a thought what the old man meant. His act was meant to teach people a lesson that every nation must learn, especially ours, it is not wealth, that makes people great, but it’s their honesty; not money but character. A nation, having great wealth and strong army, however cannot produce “HONEST MAN”, is doomed. Read the rest of this entry »

My idea of being a TISF President…

Someone has greatly said:

“Never talk defeat. Use words like hope, faith, belief and victory…no one can defeat us unless we first defeat ourselves”

It’s really disappointing that I couldn’t express my vision in the auditorium due to my sweet audience but never mind. Well, I strongly felt that I should satisfy all my supporters who untitledadmired me to become their representative. I have become your representative to accomplish a motive. I really want a well structured and dynamic TISF with a vision to achieve higher and superior goals and with your help and assistance I will fully utilize all of my capabilities to achieve them.

It’s a harsh fact that today the freshmen and we the students are facing the dark nights of TIP…Its time to keep ourselves together like a strong connection and over take this bad period that surely will not last long INSHALLAH. Besides some conventional events like the Freshmen Gala, theme Carnival and beach party, one of my primary focuses will be to create an amusing and entertaining environment in the surroundings of TIP throughout the year by planning small events… Read the rest of this entry »

Hours of Earth hours!!

“Pehle kehte they k economy drive hai AC 10:00am pe chalengay, ab tau kabhi kabhi chalana he bhool jate hain yeh TIP wale!!”.

Hearing a comment from a student about TIP’s air conditioning policy reminded me of a recent article by M. Zubairi in Dawn Letters to the Editor (31st March, ‘09) about Earth Hour:

“I WAS quite amused to read a news report on ‘Earth H our’ in your newspaper (March 27). The report said that to demand action on climate change, major cities of the world will turn off their lights.

It also mentioned that people were being invited to share ways of spending ‘an hour’ in the darkness through a blog. Earth Hour was launched by WWF. The WWF should present a special award to Pakistan for observing ‘Earth Hour’ every day, thanks to the electricity distribution companies.

The WWF should also make a documentary on how to spend not an hour in darkness but hours in darkness. Pakistanis will be able to provide useful input to climate change enthusiasts.”

Why the duck?

thin-header

There is a legend, call it a campus legend or hostel myth, that once upon a time TIP was a fair place. The grass was greener, the tower taller, the blackboards green. Around campus everywhere there were foxes and squirrels and geese, oh my! The lake brimmed with fresh clear water, and in that water roosted many geese, cackling and crowing all day and all night. The students were, of course, smitten by this captivating environment, this enchanting campus, and spent many a listless hour by the lake, listening to the geese cackle and crow, while cackling and crowing, and dare I say, quacking, amongst themselves. The geese depended on the students to be fed. The students would procure bread specially from the canteen, making sure the geese only got the highest quality. They would then sit on the bridge and by the lake and the geese would come to them and get their daily bread while the students were captivated by the lights of UFO’s landing nearby and blazing red sunsets.

One day, in the midst of this serenity, disaster struck! The Read the rest of this entry »
