Mitti bharay haath…

Art is collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better.

– Andre Gide

It’s very true that when you create something of your own, you experience a feeling beyond amazement. A similar feeling was experienced on the 5th of March 2009, Thursday when a bunch of designers (tdt1 and tdt2) escorted by Sir Munawar Ali and Sir Shamoon Haider along with their families including their adorable daughters Khunsha and Aaliya, went to Sea View for sand sculpturing, which was an incredible experience.

We left from the city office around nine in the morning and the weather was pretty much in our favour at that time though.

Okay now talking about the laborious work that we poor souls did :p

First we made a circle of 100 feet in diameter so that we cud mark off the area for the sculptures. And then we had to dig out wet mud from places near the water and bring that mud and throw it in the circle, well it all sounds very easy when you write it down but believe me it felt like child labor. I say it’s a girls’ world – Nelly Furtado

Just when the clock stuck four on the evening of Friday the 20th Feb. 2009 I realized that it was time for me to pour down all my sorrows and forget all the miseries of my life that has been bestowed on my poor weak shoulders. The party attended by 14 girls was totally amazing; we had a short but fun filled time with the atmosphere loaded with gossips, giggles, screams and witty looks.

“I was about half in love with her by the time we sat down. That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty… you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are.” – J. D. Salinger

Every girl tries to find a comfort zone in another girl to let out how she feels about the most horrible and the most astonishing parts of her life.

Why the duck?

thin-header

There is a legend, call it a campus legend or hostel myth, that once upon a time TIP was a fair place. The grass was greener, the tower taller, the blackboards green. Around campus everywhere there were foxes and squirrels and geese, oh my! The lake brimmed with fresh clear water, and in that water roosted many geese, cackling and crowing all day and all night. The students were, of course, smitten by this captivating environment, this enchanting campus, and spent many a listless hour by the lake, listening to the geese cackle and crow, while cackling and crowing, and dare I say, quacking, amongst themselves. The geese depended on the students to be fed. The students would procure bread specially from the canteen, making sure the geese only got the highest quality. They would then sit on the bridge and by the lake and the geese would come to them and get their daily bread while the students were captivated by the lights of UFO’s landing nearby and blazing red sunsets.

One day, in the midst of this serenity, disaster struck! The Read the rest of this entry »

Mairaj, kahan chala gaya yar

Our dear friend Mairaj Bin Waqar from TS3 passed away yesterday, September 26, ‘08 (26 Ramadan, 1429 A.H.) leaving behind only memories of his goodness, warmth, humility, and all the times he brought smiles on our faces.

He was traveling home to spend the end of Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr holidays with his parents in Lahore when he met a tragic accident on board his train. Shaikh Adil Fareed and Awab Ahmed were some of his friends traveling with him. Attempts were made to quickly transport him to a nearby hospital but he gave in to his injuries and died on the way.

We all pray to Allah to give his family and all his friend the courage to cope with his loss, and that he be granted eternal peace and tranquility on his heavenly abode.

Mairaj, Kahan chala gaya yaar? We miss you.

The Wait…

I’m writing this from my Marketing Manager’s office, who by the way is never around. My company wants to implement the concept of IE (Industrial Engineering) in their apparel manufacturing process, unfortunately it seems my Production Manager is more interested in increasing his productivity and getting his female workers to work harder. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he’s all bad, he has managed to convince the company to install an air conditioned floor and has worked with Swedes, Sri Lankans and Chinese, set the company’s lines; it’s his insistence that internationally applied methodologies cannot be applied to our own industry. Rotaract Polio Immunization Drive – July 2008

Like the first drop of rain that brings about a smile on a farmer’s face and that changes his life, the same feeling was seen in the eyes of the inhabitants of Machhar colony and Shireen Jinnah colony when those two drops of OPV were given to the little stars we have on earth.

The polio drive started on the 1st of July 2008 and ended on the 5th. The enthusiasm and the level of energy shown by the rotaractors were simply amazing. Although I was there only on the 4th of July, unfortunately I couldn’t come on the last day, but still, I was convinced that everyone over there was with the purest of intentions at heart and was willing to make difference in the lives of our people. There were members from various clubs since it was a joint club activity, rotaractors from the Cosmopolitan, Karsaz, TIP, Metropolitan, Szabist, Karachi Main and others participated with fervor and zeal.
