Sometimes I wish

No one around is happy with his or her life; everyone is on the verge to acquire more and more in life. Why can’t man be satisfied with whatsoever he or she has? This question triggers me every now and then. Why is that mankind is so much obsessed with himself that he doesn’t give a second thought to the relationships he is ruining every moment? We are egocentric, demented, and manic creatures on this world. Is this statement true? Or are we just being human, plain simple human beings? Read the rest of this entry »

Is conserving the solution for inflation and food crisis around the world?

By Rahim Jindani, TS2A

We all are so concerned nowadays about being environmental  friendly more over, concerned of conserving things but belive me all this will never ever help neither you nor me. It will always some how or the other increase the crisis because the more you put your efforts to do so the more you will be requiring energy and the more energy requiring means more consumption and intake of diet.

So what will help us out of this situation. Is there any way? Can it be stopped by the world bank or some of those G8 members who are so concerned and are also facing these problems. The answer is NO they cant help you out! Well, then what will help us out?

I just focused on my daily routine and work that one performs and I was amazed to see that the day I woke up early and meditated, I felt more of in control of my diet and other work. I could feel the lightness, I could feel Read the rest of this entry »

TDT Degree Show 2008 - a review

‘Annual Degree Show’ or the ‘Final Year Thesis Display’ by the our textile designers is a widely anticipated and sought after event by most of us at TIP. It holds importance to not only the design graduates, as they flaunt what they have learned in their art school, but also to other students , alumni and faculty who look forward to seeing some exotic, scintillating and eclectic themes exectued immaculately with perfection in form of a variety of products. In my view this year thesis display was a bit of disappointment, the reason for which I will later explain in this review. Starting from the marketing of the event to the variety of products displayed, the level of anticipation by the designers to the techniques employed , the originality of the themes to the execution of the products, there were loopholes which somewhat faded the excellence of TIP Design show 2008.

First of all, there was an absence of Read the rest of this entry »

No Man’s Land

From the past few months, we have been witnessing that the upper area of library is sometimes closed for the students. Can anybody pour out the reasons for it? Please come up with your comments.

Will the whispering voices start Quacking, please?

Okay, so it seems that you’ve already heard of the latest increase in our fees. Of course, the management never bothered to officially inform us before we were handed our fee bills stating a 10% increase. One wonders what the ‘non-profit’ organization that we call TIP is trying to prove participating in the fee hike along with elitist (some call them top-ranking) universities of the city. Maybe, the institute wants to position itself in the minds of people as an elitist institution at par with the rest, or maybe not. So what, if the intake is of lower standards (as they call it). The fees sure isn’t! Now, one completely understands how the rising inflation is affecting everyone, including organizations and their spending. But why do you forget that it is affecting the individual even more. Sure, the campus maintenance supposedly costs a lot, but we haven’t been seeing a lot of any of that lately, considering how sunken tiles on our walkways and the broken drier in the washroom hasn’t been fixed in a very long time and the hostel remains in a sorry state at all times.

Having said all this, only the tip of the iceberg has been tipped yet and the writer does not wish to attract the management’s wrath entirely towards himself, but to deliver the voice of the masses to the top. They say that TIP is the most democratic institution in the country Read the rest of this entry »

TISF 2008-09

Election Announcement

While some believe it was another yearly bout of dirty politics all over again, for me, despite being a person who stays away from public politics, observing TISF Elections ‘08 was a tense experience. With heavy, rather colorful campaigning everywhere, lots of money wastage and seeing how (in)famous groups of fast friends around the campus broke into pieces of old China, it was difficult for people to stay away from the obvious hypocrisies the election pot was brewing.

Finally, it’s over. The results have been quite predictable. Peace did reign supreme, and the faculty seems happy. And best of all, reliable sources quote the voting and counting process to have been fair and transparent!

This is what the new TISF consists of:

Awab Ahmed - President
Saad Nasim - General Secretary
Altaf Abdul - Finance Secretary
Saad Ashraf - Activity Secretary
Anum Fatima - Campus Development Secretary

I congratulate them all for their success on behalf of the entire Quack! Online team and wish them a fruitful, honest and scandal free tenure. I also congratulate the previous TISF for ending a great tenure without any corruption accusitions. Good job, Haris Amin, Waqas Aman and Arsalan.

Returning to election talk, here’s what Quack! managed to gather from people about the elections. Their views: Read the rest of this entry »

Election Masala

Once again, we are looking forward at the upcoming elections. The nomination forms have been submitted and soon we will witness the nominees with their posters all over the campus followed by a heavy election campaign. This time TISF has put up a debate session on 30 April where candidates can come up with their ‘proposals’ and ‘the way’ they will be handling the things in the near future. While candidates, strives to generate funds for their nomination forms and election campaign, we (like every time) watches the whole drama and assumes that this time we will get much better TISF. The most difficult thing, to me, in life is to satisfy people. Therefore, amidst of quite decent work by the last TISF, people again want a much and much better student body which is obviously their right as well. This time, Student’s forum has introduced two new seats and the first ever TISF official website as well.

Two new seats include Event management and Campus development. Considering the no or less participation of designers in the TISF, ‘Campus development’ seat is being reserved only for designers. There are students (though in minority), who want their campus much beautiful and nostalgic than any thing else. With a TISF funded seat like this, students can not only come with their ideas but can also implement them as well. Designers (being creative ones) can handle this job quite better than any one else. The need for an official student’s website was felt long time ago. Though quite late, this time first ever student’s forum web site has also been launched (do not visit it now since it is still without any news or updates). Read the rest of this entry »
