Another step towards the betterment of the students, another day at the auditorium in the presence of a multi-talented, diverse and inspiring speaker who on one hand is well renowned for his vocals in the classical genre and on the other hand, a marketing executive and the founder of a remarkable marketing firm.

The recognized ghazal singer Salman Alvi visited TIP and shared with us his diverse experience and knowledge regarding the pursuit of happiness that everybody seem to be participating in, especially in professional life. Along with some conventional inspiring content shown in his signature way, he also shared with us his passion of music and its importance along with some real life chemistry that relates to music being a remedy to a mature mind.

Following a brief introduction given by his former MBA classmate Mr. Fariq Mukhtar, Mr. Alvi was handed over the rostrum to continue with the session. And the sessions begin…

If you have glanced over the new timetable for the current semester, you might have noticed the introduction of a new slot, labelled Guest Speaker Session.

Some of the pictures he shared with us showed glimpses of what the City of Lights used to look when the concept of light had not become so common. This is not the End, it’s only the Beginning

On 29th January, 2012, Textile Institute of Pakistan [TIP] said farewell to yet another vibrant and extremely competent batch of students. It was the Convocation 2012, probably the last time the entire batch crowded the fields on TIP collectively as a single cohesive unit.

The basketball court was utilized to host this grand event, just like it had been so the previous year. A dairy white marquee, a bright glistening sun and a pleasant breeze set the perfect tone for the occasion. The proceedings began, the event being hosted by me, Asad Jafri of AMM2 and Komal Mustafa of TDT2. In synchronization with a classical Sitar tune being played through the speakers, the procession led by the Academic Coordinator Mr. Umair Saeed entered the arena, followed by the graduating students, faculty members, Board of Governors, President TIP Dr. Zubair Bandukda, Chancellor TIP Mr. Arif Hasan and the keynote speaker for the day, Mrs. Noorjehan Bilgirami. Why this Silence?

There was a time in the history of this campus when the grass was greener, the birds more melodious, and the students livelier.

The management wasn’t responsible for that. The students were.

Bring it back. Continue reading
